Bible Video: John the Baptist Baptizes Jesus

Scripture: Matthew 3:13-17

In this video about Jesus, as explained in Matthew 3:13-17, Jesus went to John the Baptist to be baptized. Remember, that Jesus’ mother and John’s mother were cousins which made them second cousins. When John was approached by Jesus, he told Jesus that he (John) should be the one being baptized by Jesus and not the other way around. Jesus told John that He needed to be baptized to “fulfill all righteousness”, or in other words, to keep the commandments of God. After that, John conceded and baptized him.

More About this Video (continued from above)

John then immersed Jesus in the water, and as is says in Matthew 3:16, he went up straightway out of the water. Then the heavens opened and the Holy Ghost descended like a dove and the voice of God the Father, from heaven, said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

As we learn from this video, Jesus Christ, God the Father and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings. God loved His son Jesus for being baptized. Since baptism is such an important event, God the Father spoke for all who were there to hear. Baptism, likewise for us, is also a very important life event. It is a commandment from God and “opens the gate” to heaven in the next life. Learn more about baptism here.
